Visual artists are invited to join The Aldrich and gallerist Heather Darcy Bhandari to learn how to navigate relationships with galleries. How do you research opportunities and negotiate representation, sales, and exhibitions? What does the gallery expect from you, from presenting your work for consideration to understanding good business practices? And what can you expect from galleries in return? Participate in the discussion and prepare for success at this first event to re-launch Radius.

Heather Darcy Bhandari is Director of Artist Relations at Mixed Greens. Since joining the gallery in 2000, she has curated over sixty exhibitions while managing a roster of nearly two dozen artists. She is also an adjunct lecturer in the Visual Arts Department at Brown University. She co-authored ART/WORK, a professional development book for artists published in 2009 by Simon and Schuster. She is on the board of NURTUREart (a nonprofit in Brooklyn that offers opportunities to emerging artists and curators), a member of the New Art Dealer's Alliance (NADA) and College Art Association, and is the co-chair of programming for ArtTable. Bhandari received a BA from Brown University and an MFA from Pennsylvania State University. Before joining Mixed Greens, she worked at contemporary galleries Sonnabend and Lehmann Maupin, both in New York City.

Radius is designed to strengthen and enrich the vibrant artist communities that surround the Museum by creating a nexus for exchange and shared experiences, fostering collaboration and communication, and providing training and expertise that enable our artist constituents to further their goals.

Programs include professional practice seminars, workshops, and networking events, as well as opportunities to explore and develop new perspectives and ideas through inspirational field trips to the unique natural environments and points of interest near The Aldrich, including places of historical, architectural, and cultural significance.

Radius programs are open to visual artists living or working in Connecticut and its neighboring states: Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island.

For further information, contact Tracy Moore at tmoore@aldrichart.org or 203.438.4519, extension 19, during regular Museum hours.
