Make Music Day
June 21st is officially Make Music Day in Ridgefield!
What is Make Music Ridgefield?
Make Music Day Ridgefield is an outgrowth of the Fete de la Musique, which originated in France in 1982. The event began as a call to musicians in Paris to perform on the streets on the solstice, June 21. Four decades later, the holiday has spread worldwide and is now celebrated in more than 2,000 cities across dozens of countries. Eighteen years ago, the Fête de la Musique crossed the Atlantic with the debut of Make Music New York.
On June 21, 2024, 141 cities across the United States hosted 5,304 free concerts. Ridgefield was proud to feature 15 venues and 74 performances, showcasing over 100 talented musicians. This event is a fantastic way to highlight our town and celebrate the unique and amazing individuals who contribute to Ridgefield’s vibrant community.
Make Music Ridgefield is organized by the Ridgefield Arts Council, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization appointed by the Town of Ridgefield. This initiative aims to highlight Ridgefield’s vibrant arts community and celebrate the musician in everyone. Make Music Day connects musicians with the community, bringing new artistic creations to life through live performances throughout the town.
The Ridgefield Arts Council is grateful for the support of the CT Department of Economic and Community Development, Office of the Arts.
